About me
I’m Lauren Van Ewyk, M.Sc. MHC, RSW. I’ve worked in private and public mental health since 2013, and I’ve run Wellspring Counselling Services from Courtright, Ontario, since 2015.
I specialize in childhood trauma, attachment and anxiety, marriage counselling and individual therapy, and I work with individuals and families across Canada to find hope and healing.
I’m a foster mom, and my husband and I raise sheep in southwestern Ontario. Farm life is part of how I understand the people I work with: the weather and the markets, the long days, and the way a family and a farm are tied together.
In 2022 I co-founded the National Farmer Mental Health Alliance, where I’m CEO. Too many farmers try counselling once and don’t go back, because their counsellor doesn’t understand farm life. The Alliance trains therapists in Agriculture Informed Therapy™, and our BeFarmWell app gives farmers and ranchers daily check-ins, simple tools, and a way to find an agriculture-informed therapist near them.
I co-host The Rural Well podcast with Bridgette Readel, speak to farm groups and conferences, and I’m completing a PhD in Rural Studies at the University of Guelph.
